So the day has finally arrived, when Apple is going to announce a whole new major OS upgrades for all of its devices. Yes, today is Apple's Annual Worldwide Developer's Conference.
So what should we expect to hear from Apple today?
Here are the top 5 leaks and rumours which are foreseeable to come true.
- iOS 9
iOS 9, codenamed "Monarch" after the ski resort might be the most highlighting part of Keynote. It is expected to bring some UI and font changes. According to leaks in past Apple is changing iOS default font to "San Francisco" which is Apple Watch OS font.
Apple is also making some HUGE performance and quality enhancements in the OS so that it can run seamlessly on as low speced devices as iPhone 4s and iPad mini.
Company is also rumoured to bring a feature called 'Rootless' which is going to be a setback for jailbreaked iPhone users as its going to restrict even the root users from having power to alter system level files.
- OS X 10.11
After major OS over-haul last year with OS X 10.10 Yosemite, this year is focusing on its roots and trying its best to enhance OS' performance, stability and security.
Just like iOS 9 font changes will make its way to OS X. Additionally, some design flaws of Yosemite will be rectified in 10.11.
Apple has been testing a feature called Control Center, reportedly. Control Center is inspired from control center for iOS which was introduced in iOS 7. It will move many of the menu bar icons, itunes media controls and other utilities in a pane which can be accesed by a swipe on trackpad from left.
'Rootless' doesn't restricts to iOS 9 only but it will be there in OS X 10.11 too. But it won't be that big limitation here as rumours suggest that desktop variant will give user power to toggle it off*Relax*.
- Apple Watch
No, don't expect a new model of Apple Watch. But we are going to hear about neat improvements that will improve your user-experience with the watch.
Firstly, Native SDKs for Developers. These SDKs will allow developers to make apps which will directly install on your Apple watch. So, yeah get ready for smoother, richer and more stable experience on your watch starting this fall.
Apple officials will also be talking about their plans for 2016 release of Watch hardware which includes how your Apple watch will do more on wifi without requiring an iPhone.
- Apple Music
Besides all new major OS upgrades Apple will be launching a new Beats-Music based music streaming service. To go hand-in-hand with Cupertino based compan will also release updates of iTunes 12.2 for OS X as well as Windows.
Company ties the service with social networks. The upcoming service will be coming as key component of iOS 9.
Apple music takes UI inspiration from some of its compititions including Apple's own iTunes. It will be a cross-platform, so expect it in Google Play Store very soon for android users.
- iPad Exclusive
For last one year the sales of iPad lineup has been on decline due to increased productivity in Android tablets as well as stagnant iPad models. The company didn't come up with any new OS features recently. Therefore expect some iPad exclusive features to surface.
Split screen apps will debut in iOS 9 exclusively which will boost up productivity. Along with split-screen apps iOS 9 will also bring multi-user support for iPasds only.
Those reasons are enough for iPad users to upgrade.
