El Capitan will boost up all Macs running yosemite
El Capitan. Yes, you heard correct. That's the name for new OS X 10.11 that Apple released at Keynote, WWDC 2015. Besides new name what else has changed in the new desktop OS from Apple? Let's talk about it.
This time company took the Snow Leopard style approach. OS X 10.11 mainly focuses on performance and stability. This version will run on all the macs running Yosemite according to the release notes (Ars Technica). Macs shown are the same as in compatibility list of Yosemite
- iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
- MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
- MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
- Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
- MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
- Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
- Xserve (Early 2009)
According to Apple apps launches 1.4 times faster, app switching is 2 times faster, first mails will open 2 times faster and and it's upto 4 times faster while opening PDF in preview than Yosemite.
Apple also brings Metal SDKs to Mac OS X 10.11 which gives developers access dricetly to graphics cores so that games can performe much better. Metal will also help in high performance apps and system-level operations will be more fluidic and snappy.
OS X El Capitan will have final release date in fall, with public beta available to the public in July.
